Leccino
This Tuscan tree shows vigorous growth and comes into production early with a medium yield that produces good, mildly fruity oil. The medium-sized fruit ripens early and is best known for its oil, though it also lends itself to black, salt-cured table olives. Pollinators for this tree include Frantoio, Pendolino and Maurino. Leccino produces more consistently and the oil is more flavorful in a cooler growing region. The fruit ripens earlier than most other Tuscan varietals.
